ALMFT

“I strive to create a safe space for my clients to explore sensitive topics.”

Amanda Iverson

Areas of Focus

My approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma-informed, and feminist-oriented. I am trained to work with couples as well as individuals. Some methods I utilize are Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method, and Solution Focused Therapy. I completed my RYT 200 at the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago, which influences my work by integrating somatic and mindfulness-based interventions into therapy.

As a relational therapist, I see my clients as part of a larger system. I often help clients reflect on early bonds with caregivers to gain insight into current relationships. I strongly believe that holding on to the authentic self is essential for meaningful connection. In therapy, we will work on ways to make you stronger as an individual, so you can show up fully in your relationships.

As your therapist, I will provide you structure to help ease anxiety about therapy, working together to meet your goals. Providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care is something I’m passionate about. I acknowledge that some sex education and media may erase certain identities, complicating gender and sex navigation. I strive to create a safe space for my clients to explore gender, sexuality and other sensitive topics.

My clinical interests include: couples therapy, supporting clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, desire discrepancies, infidelity recovery, navigating consensual non-monogamy or polyamory, sexual concerns, body image concerns, gender and sexual identity exploration.
